Body Found Off Coast ID'd As Missing Diver Rebecca Weiss
A body found off the coast of Rancho Palos Verdes yesterday has been positively identified as that of the missing diver Rebecca Weiss.Weiss, 50, of Marina Del Rey was an experienced diver who went missing a week ago. Her husband reported her missing when she didn't come home after a dive as planned. He found her car parked near her favorite local diving spot, where her body was found.
An autopsy for Weiss is planned today to determine her cause of death, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Her family is baffled by how a diver as experienced as Weiss could turn up dead after a dive in the waters that she knew so well.
Her mother has been giving public statements indicating they suspect foul play involving her husband Alan Weiss. However, investigators with the sheriff's department told the Times that he's been nothing but cooperative, and they don't share the family's suspicions.
