30-Year Old Mother Of Two Killed In Hit-And-Run
A 30-year old mother of two died on Saturday night after being struck by a hit-and-run driver, and family members are pleading for anyone with information to come forward.
Makeda Moore was on her way to a store in Bellflower when she crossed the street near Lakewood Boulevard and Los Angeles Street around 9:45 p.m., Saturday night. That's when a dark-colored Nissan struck Moore and did not stop, continuing southbound on Lakewood Boulevard according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. Moore's family says traffic on Lakewood Boulevard does tend to be quite fast.
First responders attempted to resuscitate Moore at the scene, performing CPR on her, but she was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
"If anyone—anyone—seen it besides the witness that we have, we need you guys to step forward," Leslie McNut, Moore's mother-in-law told KTLA. "She left behind a 9-year-old daughter and 2-year-old son, so we need you guys to help with this, please."
Authorities say the Nissan in the hit-and-run should have "substantial" damage to the front bumper and windshield. Anybody with information is being asked to call the LASD's Lakewood Station Traffic Detail at (562) 623-3500.
