Autopsy Confirms Junior Seau Died of a Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound to Chest
An autopsy conducted on the body of Junior Seau confirms what was suspected: the former NFL star died yesterday of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest. It will take a few weeks until reports from toxicology reports conducted on his body will be available.
The medical examiner mentioned that it is awaiting word from Seau's family about whether to donate Seau's brain to researchers studying head injuries, according to the Union-Tribune. Researchers have reached out to the Seau family, asking if they could study his brain, according to Shawn Mitchell, a pastor and family friend.
"Him taking the shot to the chest makes sense that he would want his head examined," he told a sea of cameras.
