Three cars in the Valley were torched by an arsonist early Friday morning.

Firefighters were called to the scene of two car fires in Panorama City around 12:30 a.m., one near the 9100 block of Cedros Avenue and another near the intersection of Nordhoff Street and Van Nuys Boulevard. According to NBC Los Angeles, the suspect managed to escape but dropped his gas can in an alleyway.

Los Angeles Daily News reports that at least three, and possibly four cars were torched in the incident along with a garbage can. Witnesses say the man who set the blazes "looked like a gangster."

The incident is under investigation.
