And let round two begin. Today the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit dedicated a section of their website to the case challenging Prop 8, which banned gay marriage in California.

"Due to the level of interest in this case, this site has been created to notify the media and public of procedures and rules for admission to proceedings, as well as access to case information," the court noted.

Today Prop 8 supporters filed an emergency appeal to the 9th District to block gay marriages from occurring. District Court Judge Vaughn Walker last week ruled that banning gay marriage was unconstitutional, but stayed his ruling until Prop 8 backers a chance to argue why gay marriages should not resume between the two federal levels of the justice system.

Walker then on Thursday denied the stay, but delayed lifting it until August 18th, allowing time for the 9th District to hear an appeal. If the stay is once again denied, gay couples might be able to marry starting at 5 p.m. that day.
