9-1-1 Tapes From Seal Beach Salon Shooting Released
The tapes from witnesses calling 9-1-1 reveal the chaotic moments after Scott Dekraai opened fire at a salon in Seal Beach on Wednesday afternoon, killing eight, according to CBS LA.
The two-minute massacre in the sleepy "Mayberry By the Sea" caught everyone by surprise. The caller is surprisingly calm, but he seems to be struggling to find the right words to explain what is going on as he speaks to a 9-1-1 operator.
Caller: Hey we got some shootings over here in Seal Beach. Operator: Ok, where? Caller: The Salon Meritage on PCH and 5th street, we need an ambulance. Operator: PCH and 5th, who’s shot? Caller: Uh, some people in the uh, in the salon here.
Scott Dekrai was armed to the hilt. In addition to wearing body armor, he had handguns — a 9-millimeter Springfield, a Heckler & Koch .45-caliber and a Smith & Wesson .44-caliber magnum, according to acting Seal Beach Police Chief Tom Olson.
Photos of the victims have also been released.
