25 More People to Walk All Over in Hollywood Next Year

The names of the twenty-five 2009 honorees to receive stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame were released today by the Walk of Fame Committee of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. The group considers hundreds of annual submissions and the final recipients are ratified by the Board of Directors.
The Committee aims to pick folks who will "appeal to the masses" according to their press release. How'd they do? Well, let's see. Names you'll recognize from the big screen include: Tim Burton, Cameron Diaz, Robert Downey Jr., Ralph Fiennes, Hugh Jackman, Sir Ben Kingsley; from the little screen: Kyra Sedgwick, John Stamos, Mark Burnett; in music: RUSH, Shakira, Kenny "Baby Face" Edmonds, and Dave Koz; in radio: Harry Shearer. There's a married couple in the bunch (William H. Macy and Felicity Huffman) which may or may not be good for their taxes, an animated character (Tinkerbell) and one pretty funny pick (The Village People).
KNBC.com points out one name that's missing, though: "Cheeta is not on the list. The animal actor, whose credits include the 1967 comedy Doctor Dolittle and the Tarzan movies, was trying for the seventh time to get a sidewalk star." Sorry, dude--ousted by a bigwig in LiteFM Jazz and some costumed disco-ers of questionable sexuality, ouch! Well, there's always 2010.
Full list of honorees after the jump. No ceremony dates for the stars have been set yet.
