Man Accused Of Stabbing 2-Year-Old To Death, Wounding His Pregnant Girlfriend
LAPD arrested a 22-year-old man early Tuesday morning after he allegedly fatally stabbed a 2-year-old girl, and severely injured her mother, according to KNBC.
Officers believe the man, who is named Latez Grey, is both the little girl's father and the mother's boyfriend, according to City News Service.
The stabbing happened on Monday night at around 9:50 p.m. in the 3500 block of Arlington Avenue in Jefferson Park. The victim's roommate called the police to report the stabbing, also saying an ambulance was needed. When they arrived, they discovered both mother and child with multiple stab wounds, according to the L.A. Times
Both were transported to a nearby hospital, where the child was declared dead. The mother, who is 5 months pregnant, underwent several emergency surgeries. As of Tuesday morning she remains hospitalized in critical, but stable condition.
Police arrested Grey after he visited a hospital to seek treatment for an injured hand. KNBC also reports that Grey turned himself in to police after Grey's own father convinced him to.
Grey was arrested on suspicion of murder.
