A 19-year-old man was shot in the head while sitting in a car in Echo Park.

On Sunday night around 10:15 p.m., several shots were reported on the 1300 block of Allesandro Street near Montana Street. When police arrived, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene from a gunshot wound to the head, according to City News Service. Six to eight shots were heard by people in the area, but so far, there have been no reported witnesses who actually saw the shooting. "Lots of folks heard gunshots but we're looking for someone who actually saw it," said LAPD Sergeant Teresa Anderson.

The L.A. County Coroner's Office has identified the victim as 19-year-old Oscar Sandoval, Jr. "We are trying to find out more about the victim," LAPD detective Lisa Governo told The Eastsider. Investigators are still searching for suspects and trying to determine a motive, and are unsure if it is gang-related.

Anyone with information on the shooting is being asked to call homicide detectives at (323) 344-5744.
