Pencil This In: Sing Along and The Shop Around the Corner

Before there was You’ve Got Mail with Tom and Meg, there was The Shop Around the Corner (1940) with James Stewart and Margaret Sullavan. It plays on the big screen tonight at 7:30 at the Egyptian. “Co-workers in a quaint Budapest shop clash in person but fall in love via anonymous letters in this charming classic set at Christmas time.”
Santa Claus is coming to the OC – on a bus. The Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) is teaming up with ABC7, Honda Center and the Anaheim Ducks to support the Spark of Love toy drive by stuffing a bus with toys today until 6:30 p.m. The bus is parked at the Honda Center in Anaheim and is in need of new, unwrapped toys and sporting equipment. Toys will be distributed to children in the local community – and with the big R going on – more Christmas cheer is needed than ever before.
The planetarium at Glendale Community College is the place to be tonight for an “Evening with the Stars” at 8 pm. The one-hour presentation takes guests to the edge of the universe and back again for $10 ($5 for kids). There’s no late seating, so if you want to see the stars tonight, don’t be late. Also, bring cash because no credit cards will be accepted.
HOLIDAY SING ALONG
The Pasadena Conservatory of Music is holding a holiday sing along tonight at 7:30 pm. The free, one-hour show will get you into the holiday spirit. The evening will be led by Young Musicians teacher Rachael Doudrick accompanied by piano faculty member Renee Gilormini.
