Why is it that there's always too much to do in December? Just look at this sampling of events happening around town tonight. Check out other events on LAist Agenda: December.

HOLIDAY COMEDY:
Comedian Harry Shearer (The Simpsons, A Mighty Wind, etc.) and his wife Judith Owen are bringing laughter and mirth – and holiday sing-a-longs – to the Steve Allen Theatre tonight and tomorrow night at 8 pm. Performances feature guests including Julia Fordham, Julianna Raye, Steve Poltz and others. Tickets are $25.

REPEAL DAY:
There are a number of bars around Downtown – the Golden Gopher, Broadway Bar, (re-opening of ) Cole’s – that are celebrating the end of Prohibition. (Can you imagine even trying to ban alcohol today?) But The Edison’s got one of the better deals tonight, especially from 5-7 pm because of its Soup Kitchen Fridays: 35 cent special cocktails and complimentary tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches.
