Doc U, the International Documentary Association’s series of educational seminars for aspiring and experienced documentary filmmakers, holds an in-depth conversation tonight with Steve James, the award-winning producer-director of Hoop Dreams, among other films. 7:30 pm at The Cinefamily at The Silent Movie Theater. Tonight at 7 pm, USC welcomes author Michael Ondaatje for the program Life After Man: Art in the Age of the Post-Human. Although he is best known as a novelist Anil's Ghost and The English Patient included—Ondaatje also writes memoir, poetry and film, "revealing a passion for defying conventional form." At the University Park Campus-Bovard Auditorium (ADM). Admission is free, butRSVPs requested. Reception and book signing to follow.

Today marks the start of’s Wellness Week, when a number of LA’s area spas, yoga studios, and Pilates centers offer deals on treatments and classes. All participating spas will either cut prices in half or offer services at a flat-rate of just $50. The deals end on March 27.
