Ever wonder what Anaheim tastes like? Tonight from 5:30-9:30 pm, the 14th Annual Taste of Anaheim takes place at the Gardenwalk on Katella. It’s an evening of music, wine and food -- from purveyors like Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, Naples Ristorante, Catal Restaurant & Uva Bar, Tortilla Jo's, Roy's Hawaiian Fusion Cuisine, Mr. Stox Restaurant, and Alcatraz Brewing Co. Tickets are $35-$40.

826LA East presents the adult seminar “Writing About Food” tonight at 7:30 pm at The Echo Park Time Travel Mart. Panelists (Colleen Dunn Bates, Jessica Gelt, Jonathan Gold, Jeanne Kelley, Jeff Weiss) will discuss writing about food ifor blogs, newspapers and books. They’ll also cover the practical side of the genre: how to go about composing a recipe, review a restaurant, and how to get published. The panel will be moderated by Christine Moore. Tickets are $25.

Los Angeles Theatre Works (LATW) presents a sci-fi double-bill of War of the Worlds and The Lost World at the Skirball at 8 pm tonight. When Orson Welles’ performed a 1938 broadcast of War of the Worlds in 1938, he caused a nationwide panic -- unlike the Tom Cruise movie version. Arthur Conan Doyle's The Lost World follows a scientific expedition deep into the Amazon jungle - back into the time of dinosaurs and cave men. All performances are recorded to air on LATW's nationally syndicated radio theater series. Here’s the uber-geeky tidbit though: the performances are directed by John de Lancie aka “Q” from Star Trek: TNG.
