Their cultures will be represented in the evening's festivities. The reception starts at 6 and the screening is at 7. Tickets.

Remember when you'd develop a Polaroid photo and an eerie entity would appear on the print? Well, drkrm gallery is launching a show tonight of just that--ghostly appearances on Polaroids--called Seeing Things. Check out the opening reception from 7 to midnight tonight and see if you see dead people, too!

Fans of mid-century modern decor will delight in this weekend's Modernist Garage Sale, held at a Hancock Park estate at the corner of Third and Rossmore. You'll find furnishings, vintage clothes, home accent pieces, and art at major markdown prices. It's your chance to do up your home Mad Men style, in the spirit of Don Draper's sojurn in Los Angeles.

With the election just a few days away, many people are working hard to get the word out about causes and candidates they believe in. There are lots of things you can do to help out, too, including phone banking. For example, if you want to take part in a "No on Prop 8" phone bank, here's a list of field offices. Head over to your cause or candidates website and find out how you can help!

Other Things to Do: Keep your eyes peeled for Flash Mob doing Michael Jackson's "Thriller" dance, stuff yourself on sushi and sake at the JRA Japanese Food Festival (LAist went last year and had a blast), celebrate the spirit of jazz at the Stockhausen Memorial concert, or scare up some fun for the family with some weekend holiday festivals.
