So basically those are the exact two things that will will be going on as part of Haircuts and Popsicles. "Celebrate the summer with specialty popsicles, haircuts, and performance. Filmmaker Josh Lee will sell his inventively flavored popsicles to onlookers while they watch haircuts and buzz cuts performed by artists in the gallery space. The hair clippings will accumulate for the duration of the performance, resulting in a sculptural work.Walk-ins are welcome. No appointments are necessary." Haircuts: Free, Popsicles: $3. East L.A.'s Summer ArtsFest 2010
East Los Angeles welcomes the community and visitors to the first weekend of their Summer ArtsFest 2010 at the Civic Center--right along the Gold Line. Events are happening all day: Farmers’ Market (9am to 3pm); East L.A. Library Programs/Activities (10am to 5pm); Artwalks, Featuring local artists and artisans. Introducing guided tour of public art (Noon to 5pm); Live Latin Jazz performance by Along for the Ride at 5 pm, and a drumming session/dance party at 7 pm. L.A. Record 100 Festival Closing Party
A concert and party to celebrate L.A. Record's 100th issue and to cap off a series of celebration. See John Carpenter, Chicano Batman, The Blank Tapes, The Branches, Manhattan Murder Mystery, DJ Turquoise Wisdom, L.A. Record DJs, and surprise special guests.
