Get Loose Like a Goose...or Something
Hitting up 100 vineyards in four days sounds a bit like a death wish, were it something you came up with to do on your own, without the benefit of months of planning and coordination. But the folks at The Loose Goose Wine Festival make the endeavor (or encounter, as they put it) seem like a mighty fine thing. And it's all happening from Thursday to Sunday up north in yonder Santa Clarita.
The Goose is actually Peter Goossens, and he says he's "no stranger to the world of wine and culinary pleasures." He also usues some lofty rhetoric, all of which make the idea of getting drunk and eating finger foods 35 miles northwest of LA seem pretty darn romantic. Regardless, the event promises to be packed with Bacchanalian excess, and boasts a rather lengthy by invite-only list of participating vineyards, as well as a selection of eight wine-pairing dinners running Thursday night. Ticket prices are tiered per event and by the number of days you wish to attend; a single day at the main event will cost you $85, but two days is only $99. The wine pairing dinners are $95 each.
