Bill & Ted 3 Has A Most Excellent Release Date — Watch Their Message From The Hollywood Bowl
Bill and Ted are officially on their way toward becoming a trilogy — "righteous!" said aging slackers everywhere. The stars of Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure are coming back 30 years later with Bill & Ted Face The Music, and now they have a shooting schedule and a release date.
They shoot this summer, and film will hit theaters on Aug. 21, 2020.
Strange things are afoot at the Hollywood Bowl — Bill and Ted themselves, Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves, went there to make the video above to give details on the new movie and thank the fans for making it happen. The video was released today.
Both actors have aged, of course. Alex Winter's career has taken a different turn — he now directs documentaries— and Keanu Reeves is rocking some salt and pepper beard vibes with his John Wick haircut, sans gel. Both of them seem pretty pumped to relive old times.
The first Bill & Ted was an iconic look at Southern California, making phrases like "Sam Dimas High School football rules!" legendary. But while the original was set here, it was actually filmed in Arizona, including its Raging Waters-esque "Waterloo" park.
The new film is following suit, shooting in New Orleans — bogus. But we're hoping there will still be some SoCal love on screen.
The Wyld Stallyns rockers already came back from the dead in Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey, so what's left for them to face this time? Here's the official summary:
"The stakes are higher than ever for William 'Bill' S. Preston Esq. (Winter) and Theodore 'Ted' Logan (Reeves). Yet to fulfill their rock and roll destiny, the now middle-aged best friends set out on a new adventure, when a visitor from the future warns them that only their song can save life as we know it and bring harmony to the universe. Along the way, they will be helped by their families, old friends and a few music legends."
It's directed by Dean Parisot, who made the sci-fi comedy classic Galaxy Quest, and was written by the same writers as the original films in the franchise — Ed Solomon and Chris Matheson.
Are you ready for a brand new bodacious chance to be excellent to each other? It's a long wait until next summer, but in the meantime, enjoy these blasts from the past via trailers and other Bill and Ted clips:
