New Tsujita-Helmed Noodle Shop To Give Out 300 Free Bowls For Opening
By now, Tsujita is something of an institution, what with two noodle shops in Sawtelle, and one in the Americana in Glendale. The brand has even expanded to a sushi spot on (where else?) Sawtelle Boulevard, and now they're looking to get into a different game: dan dan noodles.
Tsujita is getting ready to unveil Killer Noodle on October 16 on—wait for it—Sawtelle. This new shop’s focus is on dan dan, the Chinese staple that’s loaded with preserved vegetables, minced pork, chili oil, and noodles. It’s also popular in Japan, where the dish is done up as tantanmen.
Killer Noodle’s Facebook page shows bowls of noodles swimming in a fiery broth that’s presumably drenched in chili oil. It goes without saying that Tsujita’s substantial ramen noodles will be part of the menagerie. As described in a release, the menu is fairly pared down—typical of the Tsujita line. There'll be a "Tokyo Style Tantanmen" that comes spicy with "robust sesame flavor and umami." As well as a "Downtown Style Tantanmen" that's described as being next-level spicy and tinted with cayenne pepper and prickly ash. The "Original Style Tantanmen" also comes with cayenne pepper, with an added tang of lemon.
If your interest has been piqued (and how could it not be), know that the shop will give out free bowls of noodles to the first 300 customers during a pre-opening event on Sunday, October 15. The event is slated to start at 11 a.m., though you'll likely have to get in line before then to snag one of the bowls. Also, you're expected to either like the shop on Facebook, or follow them on Instagram, because of course.
Killer Noodle is at 2030 Sawtelle Blvd, Sawtelle. They open on October 16 and regular hours go from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., with last call at 10:30 p.m. The shop is closed Wednesdays.
