Brentwood School Teacher Accused Of Sex With Student Was Arrested For Drugs At Coachella

Dr. Aimee Palmitessa, a chemistry teacher at the elite Brentwood School who was accused of having sex with a 16-year-old student, is also facing an unrelated drug possession charge.

Palmitessa, 45, appeared in front of a judge in Indio, California, on Tuesday for a misdemeanor drug possession charge stemming from an April 22 citation at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. According to City News Service, Palmitessa was arrested for having two aluminum bindles containing ecstasy, and was released the following day. Her Tuesday appearance at the Riverside County court was postponed to September 26, adds CBS.

Palmitessa was officially charged with the misdemeanor on Thursday, August 17, a day before she was arrested for felony statutory rape. The Brentwood School teacher posted $230,000 bail, and is scheduled to be arraigned September 15 in a downtown Los Angeles court. The school has currently placed her on administrative leave.
