Silver Lake Is Getting A New Thai Street Food Shop Next To The Happy Foot/Sad Foot Sign
Underneath Silver Lake's iconic Happy Foot/Sad Foot sign, it's out with the old and in with the new. The Comfort Inn at the corner of Sunset Boulevard and Benton Way has said goodbye to Vegan House, and is gearing up for the opening of Isaan Classic, a Thai street food vendor specializing in the Isaan region's cuisine.
As LA Weekly notes, the restaurant is unrelated to Isaan Station along Koreatown's Western Avenue, despite both spots highlighting the street food of Thailand's Northeast province. "Isaan Classic's menu has not been finalized, but there's a lot of chicken and fish, rice with everything, and an abundance of chiles and herbs," the Weekly continues. "The owners are calling it 'old school, homemade, Thai street food.'" An opening date is expected in the coming weeks, barring any permitting issues.
Isaan Classic's imminent arrival will put it in company with Same Same and Daw Yee Myanmar Corner, giving the eastern edge of Silver Lake a growing pocket of strong Southeast Asian fare.
Isaan Classic will be located at 2701 Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles.
