Botanica's Gorgeous Silver Lake Market And Restaurant Has Finally Arrived

After nearly a year, the wait is just about over—Wednesday, May 3, marks the opening of Botanica Market and Restaurant along Silver Lake Boulevard.

But, despite the name, Botanica is in fact a three-pronged concept: digital magazine, market, and restaurant.

"We wanted the maximum points of engagement and connection," Emily Fiffer, a co-owner of Botanica along with Heather Sperling, told LAist. "The recipes for all the food we're serving will appear online in the magazine," and all the ingredients will be sold in the market, she added. "Nothing is secret, there is no proprietary information. We want to share...Our dream was to have a home cook in Sweden find our recipes online, and then one day come visit L.A. and try our food in the restaurant."

Botanica will focus its menu on sharable, health-conscious dishes, and will include a bar program and cafe.

"We were at a farmers market in February feeling fruits on a 70-degree day," said Fiffer (who's from Chicago, while her partner Sperling is from New York). "So, it very quickly became clear that this is the place to be. We're vegetable focused and our menu will follow the seasons."

Botanica will hold a soft open on Wednesday, May 3, for dinner starting at 5:30 p.m., and will begin all-day service the following day, Thursday, May 4. These hours apply to both the market and restaurant.
