Gwyneth Paltrow And Night + Market's Kris Yenbamroong Made Noodles Together

At first glance, Gwyneth Paltrow and Kris Yenbamroong may seem a strange pairing. However, both are L.A. natives who spent part of their education in New York (Paltrow for high school at The Spence School, Yenbamroong at NYU for film school), and both are intensely aesthetically minded. It should follow, then, that a recent meeting of the two to discuss Thai food for a video on Paltrow’s GOOP website had some interesting nuggets.

“You are, obviously, one of my favorite chefs in the world,” Paltrow began. “Your restaurant—Night + Market—some of the best Thai food I’ve ever had.”

The two then discussed Yenbamroong’s theory in the kitchen (“I like stories, that’s how I like to connect to people, and it just happens to be food”), before Paltrow made an unexpected comparison to pad thai:

“It’s like sex, or pizza: even when it’s bad it’s still alright.”

Well put, GP.

The BFFs the moved to the bedroom studio kitchen to demonstrate how Night + Market’s pad thai is made. And, to be honest, watching Yenbamroong mix fish sauce in a pink bowl, and work his tattoo-sleeved arms around the glossy rustic-minimalism of the GOOP kitchen feels right. Watching GP repeatedly touch Yenbamroong, however, and moan—not so much.

The pair closed out the video eating Paltrow’s health-conscious version of pad see ew.

“That’s awesome,” Yenbamroong said, mouth full of noodles. “That’s something I could eat, like, every night. Honestly.”

We’ll be the judge of that.
