Video: Sound Problems Sabotage Radiohead's Coachella Set
During their headlining set at Coachella on Friday night, Radiohead was silenced by sound problems just three songs in, eventually walking off stage... again and again.
According to Variety, "the sound glitches began only three songs into the band’s set, but grew much worse during opener '15 Step,' cutting out the final two minutes of the track. The band then left the stage." The Guardian reports that when they returned to the stage, they went straight into "The National Anthem... fittingly, that was followed by Let Down, when once again the sound cut and the band had to leave the stage." The crowd reportedly let out an audible gasp.
They did return, though, and Yorke (who first blamed "fuckin' aliens") asked the crowd, “Can you actually hear me now? I’d love to tell you a joke, lighten the mood, something like that. But this is Radiohead, so fuck it.” While audio malfunctions returned briefly even after that, they pushed through to the end.
Not sure why you'd want to put yourself through watching such an upsetting thing as Radiohead being silenced, but here is some video.
