Photos: Dine 950 Feet Above Ground In The U.S. Bank Tower's 71Above

71Above is up and running, towering over downtown Los Angeles in the 71st floor of the U.S. Bank Tower, the tallest building on the West Coast.

When you dine at 71Above, you are 950 feet above the sidewalk. The restaurant officially opened for dinner on Friday, and we're told it's been so popular thus far that they've decided to also kick lunch service into gear. The view is incredible, of course, and a more relaxing way to take it in than via the slide attached to the 70th and 69th floor of the building. The space was designed by Tag Front Design, and offers seating at a chef's table or in more intimate dining areas, meaning you just know there are going to be a lot of proposals up here.

The kitchen is helmed by Chef Vartan Abgaryan (Cliff's Edge) and the food is predominantly modern American. Guests can choose a two-course lunch for $35/person or a three-course dinner for $70 person. Wine and cocktails pairings are available for an additional $40/person. Dinner items include hamachi, oysters, steak tartare, scallops, ribeye and select vegetarian options include an artichoke, summer squash and a tomato tart. There is also a bar menu available offering single items for lunch and dinner, with prices ranging from $8 for a falafel dish to $16 for a burger.

Dinner is served nightly from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. Lunch is served Mon.-Fri., 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The space is open for cocktails until 11 p.m. Sun.-Weds. and until midnight Thurs.-Sat. Brunch on the weekends is in the works.

71Above is located inside the U.S. Bank Tower at 633 W. 5th St. in downtown Los Angeles, 213-712-2683.
