Pink's, that L.A. institution of bun-and-weiner, has opened its first ever expansion spot. That's a little surprising, considering that the humble shop has been on its lonesome since 1939. What makes it even more surprising is that the new shop is international shop in Manila, Philippines.

Why Manila? République chef Walter Manzke and his wife Margarita, who was born in the Philippines, have been active in the Filipino food scene for the past few years. They opened Wildflour, a bakery and cafe, in Manila in 2012. Today there are three Wildflour locations across Manila. The Manzkes told Eater that the Philippines is craving new cuisine, largely thanks to the Internet culture.

"Even for the poor, they know everything that's going on in the world, and they want it more than anyone," said Walter.

The Manzkes, along with Ana De Ocampo, Margarita's sister, decided to bring a bit of L.A. to Manila. The new Pink's location, which opened Wednesday, has a menu that carries over 12 hot dogs from the L.A. shop, reports InterAksyon, a Filipino publication. You'll find staples like the Hollywood Legend, the East L.A. Street Dog, and the peerless chili dog. (Though, on Instagram, the hot dogs look a little smaller than the ones we get in L.A.)

Pink's Manila doesn't aspire to be a carbon copy of the L.A. location, of course. In the shop is a Volkswagen Kombi that's been converted into a concession stand. The van serves up sodas and ice cream from Brooklyn's Farmacy. And, speaking of beverages, the stand is also slated to offer cocktails and craft beers.

Sounds amazing! But we'll remain skeptical until we have confirmation that they serve the Huell Howser Dog.

It looks like the opening was a blast. Check out some of the pics posted to Instagram, like this one of Pink's owners Richard and Gloria Pink giving their blessing to the new shop:
