Beginning this week, Salt & Straw will debut a limited edition series of delicious-sounding ice cream flavors inspired by local chocolate makers.

The Portland-based, small batch ice creamery is adding a local twist to their roster of fun flavors with the help of five chocolatiers from the L.A. area. Inspired by Valentine's Day, the decadent lineup will kick off on Friday January 29 and run until February 25, and feature flavors from gourmet producers, including Chocovivo and Bar Au Chocolat.

Salt & Straw's Head Ice Cream Maker (oh, what a title to have), Tyler Malek, teamed up with his favorite local chocolatiers to showcase their unique styles and flavor profiles. The Coney Island from Compartes in Brentwood and on Melrose features vanilla and rainbow swirl ice cream, dotted with caramelized waffle cones and chunks of their Coney Island chocolate. The Fig & Sesame Butter Cup from Ococoa on Robertson Blvd. uses a chocolate sesame ice cream speckled with chocolate butter cups and ribbons of fig jam. Santa Barbara-based Twenty-Four Blackbirds collaborated for a Cardamom & Candied Cocoa Nibs flavor, while Manhattan Beach-based Bar Au Chocolat's Date Night promises roasted chocolate ice cream with dates, inspired by SoCal's love for date shakes. And for a unique twist Culver City's Chocovivo-inspired flavor is an Olive Oil and Blood Orange Chocolate Milk Sorbet.

The limited-edition flavors will be available at both the Larchmont Salt & Straw location, as well as the recently opened Abbot Kinney shop.

Salt & Straw is located at 240 N. Larchmont Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90004, 323-466-0485; and 1357 Abbot Kinney Blvd., Venice, CA 90291, 310-310-8429.
