The Clippers Have A New Logo And Everyone Hates It
The Clippers unveiled a new logo last night and because they're the Clippers nobody liked it.
Team owner Steve Baller made an appearance on Conan last night and unveiled the new #branding, dropping some boilerplate about taking over the historically hapless team from racist old slimeball Donald Sterling while also being a little nice to "owner emeritus" Shelly Sterling.
The LAist #HotTake: it's not bad! It's simple and clean, and not some horrible chintzy design of an ugly animal (not that the team had an animal mascot to do that with). The only problem with the rebranding is that it might mean the script jerseys are gone, and I dug that classic look. At least they didn't go with the suggestion to make Microsoft Word's Clippy their logo.
Wanna get some of that sweet, new, #redbranded Clippers swag for yourself? Ballmer, coach Doc Rivers, and broadcaster Ralph Lawler will be around town today giving away t-shirts with the new logo, including a stop at Pink's during the lunch hour.
Of course this is the Internet, so everyone was quick to ridicule the new logo:
