When we heard that Churro Borough soft opened a brick-and-mortar shop in Los Feliz, we knew we had to investigate. We got there right at 6 p.m. when it opened to a line of about 15 people forming outside. The message was clear: churro ice cream sandwiches are serious business.

Right away you're greeted with a glass case with gorgeous rows of paletas that come in a variety of unique flavor combinations, including raspberry lime, guava lime and spicy mango. They're $3.50 a pop. We ordered watermelon lemongrass paleta. It was light and refreshing and the ingredients tasted fresh.

There are also their rows and rows of artisanal ice cream flavors that they make in small batches. Churro Borough had 14 different flavors that day, including year-round flavors like spicy hot chocolate and Spanish latte to seasonal ones like coconut kaffir lime sorbet and tangelo kumquat sorbet. You can get single to triple scoops of their ice cream, ranging from $4 to $7.50. You can tack on toppings like churro bits and waffle cone crumbs for extra.
The star of the show, though, are the churro ice cream sandwiches. You get to pick any flavor from their ice cream selection and put it into a churro sandwich for $4.50 We ordered one with "horchata sherbert"—and it was delightful. The ice cream was creamy and flavorful, and made from high-quality ingredients. The freshly-made churros—which come out as crispy, flattened, swirled discs covered in sugar granules and cinnamon—perfectly complemented the ice cream.
If you want to go the extra mile, you can get their Churro Fries, which are basically long strips of churros, for $3. Add $0.50 for chocolate, toffee or guava dipping sauces. They also offer shakes with vanilla custard, chocolate cookie malt and strawberry buttermilk. Those run at $7.50 a drink.

There are beautiful and wispy murals painted by street artist Hueman alongside the walls inside Churro Borough and outside in the front patio. It's not a huge space, but there's are some stools lined up against the walls inside, and wooden tables and chairs outside.
