Video: Woman Plays Elegant Piano Renditions Of Old Nintendo Theme Songs

An L.A.-based pianist and composer made us feel all nostalgic and giddy at the same time with her pretty stellar piano renditions of old Nintendo theme songs. We're talking about some good ones, from Super Mario Bros. to Castlevania. Let your inner nerd squeal.

On the YouTube channel, Player Piano, which is run by director Tom Grey and pianist Sonya Belousova, they normally post videos of classically-trained musicians putting their touch on beloved songs and soundtrack themes. So far, they've done their own covers that include Street Fighter, Tetris and Akira.

But this time around, for their "On the Spot" segment where they have Belousova listen to a song and play her version on the fly, they had one of their Indiegogo campaign backers pick the songs—and we think he got his money's worth. Oliver Fisher got to choose seven songs for Belousova to play, including Super Mario Bros. 3, Mega Man II, Zelda, Kid Icarus, and basically the most beautiful arrangement you'll ever hear of the Duck Tales theme song. We're serious.

Earlier this week, Belousova tackled Guile's theme from Street Fighter. Here you go. You're welcome.
