If you love the finer things in like—like bacon and beer—we've got some good news. The Queen Mary will be home to Long Beach's first Big Bite Bacon Fest on August 2.
The head honchos behind the event, which first premiered at the San Diego County Fair last year, are offering unlimited samplings of over 40 varieties of bacon and pork-infused dishes that you get to try in a 2.5-hour span. If you're feeling thirsty, you can pay a little extra to tack on 10 3-ounce beer samples to your experience.
And just looking at the photos on their website, we're seeing things like chocolate-covered slices of fried bacon, bacon and cheese burgers, bacon wrapped around everything, and a bacon sundae... You get the idea—bring some Zantac with you.
We're digging their line up of craft breweries, which includes Deschutes, Golden Road Brewing, Ninkasi Brewing, Magic Hat, among others.
If you've ever thought about playing bacon chess, pork ladder toss, or pig pong, and connect swine, they have a "Pig Pen" entertainment area, too. And it looks like there's a Big Daddy Bacon Pageant and a wedding where folks can tie the knot, complete with bacon bouquets and boutonnieres (like this).
General admission is $35 (and $45 at the door) for lunch from 12 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., or dinner from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. If you want the bacon and beer sampling, it's $45 (and $55 at the door). VIP admission is $55 (and $65 at the door) and gets you an extra hour at the fest, from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., or 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. VIP bacon and beer sampling is $65 (and $75 at the door).
