Bad news for snackers: several brands of hummus and dips sold at TJ's and Target are being recalled for contamination. In all, 14,860 pounds of the stuff is being recalled.
The Texas Department of Health found a listeria contamination during a routine test of Target Archer Farms Traditional Hummus, and now Lansal, Inc. is voluntarily yanking all of their products made at the same facility.
While no one has gotten sick yet, this particular type of contamination is potentially serious for children, pregnant women and the elderly. A release from the FDA says that the organism listeria monocytogenes can cause fever, headaches, nausea, diarrhea and abdominal pain.
Notable items: Trader Joe's edamame hummus and several varieties of Target Archer Farms hummus. You can look at a full list of items recalled here.
