Video: Adorable Baby Gorilla Born At San Diego Safari Park After Difficult Birth
The cutest baby gorilla in the world was born in an emergency c-section the other day at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park.
The baby's mother, 18-year-old Imani, had been in labor for over 12 hours, which is well over the normal length of time for a gorilla, ABC reports. Doctors who had been monitoring Imani while she was in labor made the decision to sedate her to perform an extremely rare gorilla c-section.
The baby gorilla, a girl, was born full term at 4.6 pounds, the L.A. Times says. Due to the difficult labor, she suffered from complications and she was rushed to a intensive care unit at the Park's veterinary hospital. As of today, she is still in guarded condition, according to a tweet from the Safari Park:
