Photos: Look At These Adorable Mountain Lion Cubs Viciously Devour A Deer

These cute photos of a mule deer being torn apart and devoured by mountain lion cubs come to us from the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. They have taken hundreds of photos of the cubs, known as P-28 and P-30, with their mother as they live and feed throughout the national park.

The mother, also known as P-13, was first discovered four years ago, when she was caught, collared and sent back out into the wild for observation, according to the L.A. Times. The pictures are especially important because they show that the cubs are healthy. In fact, Biologist Jeff Sikish told the Times that the cubs look "nice and fat."

The SMMNRA also claims that mule deer constitute about 95 percent of the family's diet, due to over 400 "kill sites" that have been examined by the team. The photos may be gory, but it's all just a part of the circle of life.
