A child strapped to a car seat narrowly escaped injury in a Mid-City drive-by last night.

The shooting happened at 7:35 p.m. last night on the 2000 block of South Corning Street. The child was with two men who were sitting in a parked car when another car drove up and started firing, the L.A Times reports.

Early reports claimed that the child, described by City News Service as a three-year-old boy, was injured by shattered glass, but LAPD Officer Wendy Reyes confirmed to LAist that the child wasn't injured at all.

The two men, one in his 30s and another in his 50s, were taken to a local hospital with gunshot wounds and are both expected to survive. Police are at a loss for a motive, but they have determined that the two men do not have any gang ties and could have been at the wrong place at the wrong time.
