Car Becomes Airborne in Fatal Crash

A 22-year old man was killed when his car hit a curb and went high into the air before crashing into a house and coming to rest on top of a masonry wall in Coto de Caza.

Cal State Fullerton resident Franz Nalezny died while trapped inside the car, according to City News Service. Capt. Steve Concialdi of the Orange County Fire Authority estimated the Mazda S hatchback went airborne for 40 to 50 feet before hitting the house at 7:40 p.m. last night.

Nalezny’s family members came and watched as cranes removed the car from atop the wall at 11 p.m. last night so coroners could remove Nalezny’s body, according to a videographer present at the scene.

Three people—a mother, her 6-year-old-son and her 3-year-old daughter—were home and were not injured when Nalezny’s car hit the home, near the intersection of Cherry Hill Drive and Vista Del Verde.
