Video: U2 Performed Unannounced Last Night for the First Time in Four Years
U2 played a previously unannounced set at Sean Penn’s fourth annual Help Haiti benefit Saturday night at the Montage Hotel.
It was the first time the band had played on stage together in four years, Billboard reports. The set included an acoustic version of Leonard Cohen’s classic tearjerker “Hallelujah,” performed with Haitian singer Anaelle Jean-Pierre, as well as U2 hits like “I Will Follow,” “Vertigo” and “Desire,” judging by the compiled video footage of the performance.
The show raised nearly $6 million for the J/P Haitian Relief Organization and saw such celebrity attendees as Bette Midler, Michael Douglas, Gwyneth Paltrow and Charlize Theron.
U2’s next album is due in April.
