DTLA Cheese Shop Opens At Grand Central Market Today

If you haven't stocked up for your holiday cheese platter yet, you're in luck, especially if you're a Downtown dweller. Today, Grand Central Market's DLTA Cheese is opening up their full-service cheese counter, bringing the funk to the quickly redeveloping marketplace.

The shop will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 6 p.m daily, and will also offer a variety of gourmet goods and American comfort food in addition to the cheeses.

Sisters Lydia and Marnie Clarke are the dairy queens behind the project. There's a long legacy of cheese mongers in their family; they're the grandchildren of the founder of the renowned Alta Dena Dairy, and they also helped build the Claremont's Cheese Cave.

The sisters have brought in chef Reed Herrick, who formerly worked in Napa Valley, to put together imported cheese plates, griddle sandwiches, and seasonal salads. The counter will also serve local craft beers and California boutique wines by the glass.
