PUMPKIN MUFFINS

Fact: One cannot visit Porto's without ordering potato balls and guava and cheese pastries. During the fall, though, there's a third item to put on your to-go list: pumpkin muffins adorned with a crunchy spice crumble. Also available at Porto's this time of year? Pumpkin cheesecake.

Porto's has branches in Burbank, Glendale and Downey.

PUMPKIN PIE COOKIES

Though it's difficult to pass up the soft sugar cinnamon and chocolate peanut butter cookies that we love, the seasonal pumpkin pie cookies, made with house-roasted pecans, are equally crave-worthy.

Milk Jar Cookies is located at 5466 Wilshire Blvd. in Los Angeles, (323) 634-9800

PUMPKIN DONUTS

Sure, you'll have to trek to Glendora for a taste of this iconic stand's treats—and you'll likely eat in the parking lot to boot—but these bumps in the road don't diminish the awesomeness of the donuts at The Donut Man. Tiger tails are available year-round (thank goodness), but in the fall this donut shop features pumpkin donuts with a spooky frosting spider-web.

The Donut Man is located at 915 East Rte. 66, Glendora, (626) 335-9111

PUMPKIN PIE CHEESECAKE

Finding a parking spot near Susina Bakery can be a challenge, but it's worth it for a slice of the pumpkin cheesecake in the glass case. Only available in fall, it has a delicious but subtle pumpkin flavor and a soft and simple crust.

Susina Bakery and Cafe is located at 7122 Beverly Blvd., Los Angeles, (323) 934-7900

PUMPKIN CRULLANTS

The cronut craze may be losing steam, but if you've not managed to try one—or one of their knockoffs—yet, consider visiting Semi Sweet Bakery, where they're called "crullants" and are baked rather than fried. In honor of the season, the bake shop is making a pumpkin cream version, which pairs nicely with a cup of drip coffee.

Semi Sweet Bakery is located at 105 East 6th St., Los Angeles, (213) 228-9975

PUMPKIN TARTS

Situated on a quieter stretch of Pico Boulevard, this family-owned boulangerie turns baked goods into edible art. At this time of year, you'd be silly to miss out on the pumpkin or pecan tarts, but don't leave without a fresh French loaf as well.

La Maison Du Pain is located at 5373 West Pico Boulevard, Los Angeles, (323) 934-5858

PUMPKIN SPICE ICE CREAM SUNDAE

More often than not, L.A. weather in the fall is warm enough to warrant an ice cream sundae. In October, try out Sweet Rose Creamery's pumpkin spice ice cream as a two-scoop ordeal, topped with a homemade marshmallow ghost or a brownie bat.

Sweet Rose Creamery is located at 225 26th St. #51, Santa Monica and 826 Pico Blvd., Santa Monica, (310) 260-2663
