Don Mattingly Might Not Be Back After All?

Last week we reported that Dodger manager Don Mattingly would be returning as manager of the team in 2014, but his comments today threw a big cloud of doubt over that.

Mattingly confirmed with the win over the Atlanta Braves in the NL Divisional Series, his option for 2014 was vested. But he added a curve ball.

"That doesn't mean I'll be back," he said.

What?

"We'll talk about it and go from there," he added.

It should be noted that Mattingly said all of this with general manager Ned Colletti sitting right next to him.

During the season-ending press conference today, Mattingly said that by being a lame-duck manager the organization put him in a tough situation in the clubhouse. By his comments today, it sounds like he doesn't want to be a lame-duck manager next season either despite saying that he loved being here.

"I don't want to be anywhere you're not wanted," he ominously said.

This is going to be a fun offseason.
