Update: Baldwin Park Bear Found Dead in Littlerock

A sad update to report on. A three-year old male bear found in the trees in Baldwin Park on Friday was hit by a car in Littlerock yesterday.

The bear was tranquilized at 6:30 a.m. on Friday and driven to the Angeles National Forest where he was released.

Andrew Hughan of the Fish and Wildlife Department told City News Service the bear apparently wandered about 30 miles from where he had been released in the forest winding up in the Littlerock area of the high desert. Littlerock is just north of the Angeles National Forest and southeast of Palmdale.

He was found on the porch and reported as a sleeping bear, but it was soon determined that he suffered injuries consistent with being hit by a car.

"He was hit by a car. It's sad," Hughan told CNS.
