Weekend Eats: Street Food Fest, Vegan Pizza Day, And Kubrick-Inspired Eats

The weekend is so close you can practically taste it. Here are the edible events going on in the next few days to keep you occupied — and sated, for that matter.

L.A. Street Food Festival: L.A. might not be known for fine dining and white tablecloths, but if there's one thing our multicultural city gets, it's street food. For the past four years, Shawna Dawson and her team of organizers have put together the LA Street Food Fest, celebrating these excellent purveyors and the tasty vittles they have to offer. This year, the event, which brings out L.A.'s heavy hitting hawkers, will take place on Saturday at the Rose Bowl. In anticipation of the heat, the organizers have expanded their tented areas and added additional shading in the stadium seating. They'll also have additional water stations, ice cold non-alcoholic beverages (in addition to ice cold beer and cocktails), hand fans for every guest and of course, the famous ice cream social. You can buy your $50 GA tickets here.

Vegan Pizza Day: On Saturday, chef Erick Simmons will offer five pizza options — four savory and one sweet — for $10 each at Mohawk Bend in honor of Vegan Pizza Day. The menu will include a Green Goddess pizza topped with roasted garlic, scallions, olives, green beans, arugula and fresh herbs. For dessert, there's a peach (pizza) pie, with roasted peaches, raspberries and cashew cream. For vitals on the event and location, check out their site.

Stanley Kubric Eats at LACMA: Chef Jason Fullilove will prepare his final meal of the RED pop-up series this Saturday at LACMA CAFÉ. The dinner features four-courses inspired by Stanley Kubrick offered between a double-feature of Belle de Jour and Eyes Wide Shut. The meal goes for $40 and starts at 6 p.m. It can be reserved as a package with the movie screenings, or a la carte. You can find out more information here.
