Photos: Oyster, Caviar and Champagne Cart Serves Manhattan Beach

Just in time for the arrival of summer, The Strand House has launched a new seaside treat in Manhattan Beach. The restaurant, which sits right on an idyllic strip of California coastline, is offering table side seafood service in between lunch and dinner hours from 2:30 p.m.-5 p.m., serving up fresh oysters, king prawns, and caviar with what could arguably be the city's most beautiful view.

They've custom-outfitted a fancy cart to push around the expansive dining room, which offers a sweeping view of the Pacific. There isn't a bad seat in the house, but we recommend sitting on the patio during the warmer months. There really isn't anything more luxurious than sipping on a glass of crisp sauvignon blanc (or champagne, if you're so inclined), supping on a briny oyster and drinking in the fresh sea air. Think of it as a trip to the French Riviera minus the expensive yacht ride.

For $25, you'll get your choice of four oysters on the half shell or 3 king prawns served with a glass of champagne or white wine. Varieties of wine and oysters change daily, but what doesn't are the accoutrements: house-made Tabasco sauce presented in a tincture jar, cocktail sauce with punchy, freshly shaved horseradish, mignonette with perfectly uniform minced shallots and wedges of tart lemon. For additional $25, you'll get a tin of Black River Siberian ossetra caviar and buttery blinis.

It's not the cheapest happy hour around, but it certainly is the one of the most elegant.
