Watch The Rolling Stones Rock The Echoplex

On Saturday morning, the Rolling Stones surprised Echo Park—or the better part of Los Angeles, really—when they announced that they would be warming up for their "50 and Counting" North American tour by playing an intimate show at the Echoplex last night.

It was an all-day affair for fans who wanted to catch the show. They stood in line early in the morning before tickets went on sale at 1 pm. A lottery determined which of the lucky fans would get to go. The consensus seemed to be that last night's show was worth the $20 (yes, that's an understatement: tickets for their arena shows start at $250). The Stones played a set lasting 1 hour and 20 minutes that included "Jumpin' Jack Flash," "She's So Cold," "You Got Me Rockin'" and "Respectable."

One fan who says she has been to 50 or 60 shows said, "I have never felt Charlie Watts' drums vibrating in my chest like that. I have never witnessed anything that sort of meshed so beautifully when Mick Taylor came out and played with them."

There were some celebrities in the intimate space:
