Sex Offender Cuts Off GPS Device, Takes Shower In Stranger's Home
A sex offender decided to cut off his GPS device, sneak into a stranger's home and take a shower...all while said stranger was still inside the house.
Gary Anthony Bakken is a 52-year-old paroled sex offender with a skeevy record in both Oregon and California. Early on Saturday morning, he was arrested at a home in Highland in San Bernardino County, according to the Riverside Press-Enterprise. The homeowner, a male, confront him and called deputies to the home.
Bakken claims it was an honest mistake, according to a release from investigators: "Bakken entered the residence … through an unlocked door and made himself at home, even taking a shower and putting his personal belongings in one of the bedrooms. He claimed he thought he was in the home of a relative."
Bakken wasn't wearing the GPS device that he was supposed to, and now investigators are wondering if he's been trying to sneak into other people's homes unnoticed (or unreported).
Bakken has been driving a brown and tan 1991 Ford F150 pickup truck, so if you have any information, you should call deputies at (909) 425-9793.
