It's the home stretch for political comedy shows, so there's an absolute glut of them this week (most being heavily Obama-favored). In fact, I'm not sure Republicans even laugh, let alone put on comedy shows.

Even if you're looking to avoid the politics altogether, there are plenty of fantastic shows around town to keep you occupied, including a party on Halloween and some of the best free improv you'll ever see on Sunday evening. If you've got a show in the future that you'd like to see listed here, email me and we'll try to work something out.

MONDAY 10/29

Ghouls Night Out!, 8p Elephant Stages. The Apple Sisters bring their Halloween-themed show to Santa Monica Blvd., for one crazy, raucous, spooky night.

Obama Benefit Show, 8:30p Largo. It’s a bit late to raise money for the campaign, but tell that to Aziz Ansari, Bill Burr, Jenny Slate and more. A note: tickets are $50.

TUESDAY 10/30

Obamalogues, 7:30p iO West. There are only two Obamalogues left before the election, so make sure to take advantage of your opportunities to hear stories, songs and more about the once and future President.

Star Dreck, 8p NerdMelt Showroom. Matt Mira and Kumail Nanjiani’s show chronicles the worst episodes of Star Trek. This month, there’s a Trek-themed costume contest, as well as special guest Horatio Sanz.

WEDNESDAY 10/31

Room 101 Halloween Party, 8p The Complex - Flight Theater. Looking for something to do on Halloween night? There’s a party going on (with adult party beverages to boot), courtesy of Room 101. Oh, and some great improv too.

The Shining: The Musical, 8p UCB. How well does music and murder combine? You’d be a fool not to find out.

THURSDAY 11/1

I’m Giving it to You Rough, 8p NerdMelt Showroom. Rather than spread her in-process hour over a bunch of different shows, Jen Kirkman is laying it all at your feet for one night only, to see what works and what doesn’t.

Campaign & Suffering, 8p Hollywood Improv. David Cross is headlining a huge comedy / politics show, with Dave Foley, Greg Proops and others. Proceeds will be donated to the Peace over Violence rape treatment program, in the name of Todd Aiken and Paul Ryan (seriously).

FRIDAY 11/2

Unnecessary Evil, 8p Westside Comedy Theater. Enjoy some weekend Westside stand up featuring Sean Patton, Baron Vaughn and others.

The Middle Show, 10p Hollywood Hotel. It’s a night of stand up, with Moshe Kasher, Brendon Walsh, Hasan Minaj and more.

SATURDAY 11/3

Home By Ten, 7:30p Artworks Theater. It’s stand up with a political (and possibly zombie?) tint to it from the likes of Eliza Skinner and others, with plenty of indie improv to follow.

Jimmy Dore, 10p Hollywood Improv. One of the nation’s best political comedians is doing a full show in Hollywood, with an earlier 8pm show for the old folks.

SUNDAY 11/4

ASSSSCAT, 7:30p UCB. After a week of shelling out money for political comedy shows, enjoy this free long form improv show from some of the city’s best.

Brian Posehn, 7p Irvine Improv. Posehn is doing a full weekend of heavy metal and comic book material down in the OC.
