Photos: Breakfast and Bangin' Coffee at the G & B Pop-Up at Sqirl
Jessica Koslow of Sqirl jams and pickles has opened up the doors of her commercial kitchen to barista champs Kyle Glanville and Charles Babinski, creating an extended pop-up cafe featuring well-curated coffees and farm-focussed eats.
At the Silverlake storefront, Koslow is creating clean, simple, and wholesome dishes that are brightened up by pickled and fermented farmers market produce. And the coffee program stands up to the quality of the food.
Glanville and Babinski source their beans based on what tastes best at the time of purchase rather than just sticking to one roaster. Right now they're featuring 49th Parallel, but the sources will vary depending on the time of year. And the cold brew coffee the team has crafted has an almost creamy element to it, which pairs well with the tangy, feta-topped brown rice porridge Kudlow turns out of the kitchen.
Highlights include the Koslow's lacto-fermented salsa verde on the broiche toasts, G & B's house made almond milk that's fashioned by blanching almonds and blending them in a Vitamix, and of course the unique sweet and savory Kokuho rice porridges.
