WalkLAvia Lets Pedestrians Take on CicLAvia on Their Feet

If you're more comfortable on your two feet than on two wheels, but still want to take part in Sunday's CicLAvia, you might want to join up with WalkLAvia.

Los Angeles Walks has organized this event within the event, and has put together a special group walk that follows Figueroa from 8th down to Expo Park. The two-hour walk will include a talk from Melani Smith with the Meléndrez design firm about the My Figueroa Corridor Project at Gil Lindsay Plaza (at 12:15 p.m.), and they promise that for the walk there will be "giant puppets, jump ropes, sidewalk chalk, seed bombs, capoeira artists, popsicles, bubbles, a history lesson or two, and more."

Meet up is at 11:30 a.m. at 8th and Fig and departure is at Noon; arrival at Expo Park is anticipated to be around 2 p.m. If you want to follow along (or join up with the walk in progress) you can follow @losangeleswalks on Twitter. There are Metro Blue and Expo line stops along the route, so hopping in (or out) is fairly easy to do. Plus, there's plenty to check out at Expo Park, or more Expo Line stations from which to depart for more urban exploration.
