A small marijuana grow site located near a residential neighborhood and above a public park was discovered early this morning in the unincorporated area of Rowland Heights.

Detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Narcotics Bureau were tipped off to the possible plants growing in the hills above Pathfinder Regional Community Park by personnel with the LASD's Aero Bureau. Members of the Marijuana Eradication Team (MET) hiked to the spot and found "a small encampment and marijuana plants in various stages of growth," according to a release issued by the LASD.

A rep says the grow was unusual in that it was located in an area not as easily accessible to the public as other illegal grow sites discovered by the LASD and the MET.
