It's a big week for The Little Modern, the semi-new mixed use venue on Santa Monica Blvd. They've got the usual slate of variety shows, stand up nights and podcast tapings, plus a weekend devoted to the LA Indie Improv Festival. It should be a great week for all sorts of comedy, so get out and enjoy some shows. If you've got a show in the future that you'd like to see listed here, just email me!

MONDAY 5/21/12

Naked & Fearless, 7:30p Hollywood Improv Lab. Part podcast, part storytelling, Naked and Fearless is all about taking risks.

Stuffed & Unstrung, 9:30p Largo. Looking for a crass, musical alternative to The Muppets? Look no further! Pulling from the same pool of puppeteers, this is a decidedly different show than the one you grew up on.

TUESDAY 5/22

The BEATdown, 11p UCB. This comedy battle rap show hosted by Eliza Skinner has been all over town, but now it’s back at UCB. If you want to see awkward comics try to rap, this is the show for you.

Comedy Rocks, 10p Hollywood Improv. Skyler Stone’s music-inspired show features comics with a love of music and at least one musical guest.

WEDNESDAY 5/23

Not For Nothin’, 7:30p Little Modern. Stand up from Nick Rutherford, Johnny Pemberton, Ali Wong and more. The theme: THE FUTURE!

Dot Comedy, 10p Laugh Factory. This club show keeps pulling in great talent, and this week they’ve got Nick Thune, Chelsea Peretti and a bunch more folks.

THURSDAY 5/24

Risk!, 8p Nerdist Theater. Kumail Nanjiani and Pete Holmes host this popular night of storytelling, with guest speakers this month including Greg Fitzsimmons.

Lady to Lady, 8:30p Little Modern. Barbara Gray, Brandie Posey and Tess Barker present their version of The View. Something tells me it’s not going to be quite as PC.

FRIDAY 5/25

The Manifesto Late Night Show, 8p ArtWorks. As a lead-up to Saturday’s LA Indie Improv Festival, there’s a whole night of crazy, wacky, silly 15-minute shows that you may never see again, possibly for good (and legal) reasons.

Late Night w/ Howie Kremer, 11p Second City. This long-running sketch / late-night show plays host to James Urbaniak and stand up Grant Pardee.

SATURDAY 5/26

LA Indie Improv Festival, Noon Hollywood. Centered around The Little Modern theater, with outposts next door and just down the block, this first-ever indie improv festival features well over 100 teams from various theaters and indie shows all over town. It’s going to be a gigantic time.

Bill Burr, 8p Flappers. If you’re kicking around Burbank this weekend, consider stopping off at Flappers to catch stand up Bill Burr.

SUNDAY 5/27

Dave Attell, 7p Irvine Improv. Attell is doing a full weekend in Irvine.

Parham / Mantzoukas, 9:30p UCB. Two of the best improvisers around are going to get absolutely bonkers on stage for about an hour. This should be magical.
