Kim Novak Reveals She Has Bipolar Disorder

Kim Novak showed up to Grauman's today to leave her foot and handprints at Grauman Theatre. The actress who starred in "Vertigo" was in town for the TCM Classic Film Festival, where she hammed it up for the crowd while she was giving her prints.

But yesterday, she gave TCM host Robert Osbourne a revealing interview in front of festival-goers, according to the Los Angeles Times. She said that she has bipolar disorder. Although she didn't have a diagnosis—much less any medicine—at the time, she explained how she struggled while she worked in Hollywood.

She added that she sometimes regrets her decision to leave Hollywood at the height of her fame in the 1960s. Novak ended up moving to Big Sur and taking up painting, because she couldn't handle the emotional pressures of her stardom.

"I don't think I was ever cut out to have a Hollywood life," Novak said. "Did I do the right thing, leaving? Did I walk out when I shouldn't have? That's when I get sad."
